Your birthday stays in your browser

The calculator runs on your device. My Birth Symbols does not need an application account or server-side birthday record to show your result.

Calculator data

The date you select is processed by code running in your browser. It is used to determine the displayed month symbols, Western zodiac sign, and, when a supported year is supplied, Chinese zodiac result.

We do not currently send the selected birthday to an application server, create a birthday account, or store a server-side result profile.

Share links and fragments

A reproducible result link can place selected values after the # symbol in the address. This is called a URL fragment. Browsers do not normally send the fragment in the HTTP request to our server, so the site can restore the result on-device.

A fragment is not secret. Anyone who receives the copied link can read the values it contains and open that result. Check the sharing mode before copying or sending a link, especially when it includes a year. Removing the fragment from the address removes the shared state.

Code running in your browser, including browser extensions, can potentially read a fragment. Result-image generation and downloads happen in the browser, but saving or sharing the resulting file places it wherever you choose.

If you use your browser or device's native share feature, the information you choose to share is passed to the selected app or service under that provider's privacy practices.

Cookies and analytics

My Birth Symbols does not currently run application analytics and does not set cookies for advertising, user profiles, or calculator tracking.

Ordinary browser caching may keep copies of site files on your device so pages load efficiently. That cache is not used to build a personal profile.

Infrastructure and connection data

The site is delivered through Cloudflare Pages. Like other web infrastructure providers, Cloudflare may process ordinary request and security data such as IP addresses, browser details, requested paths, timestamps, and threat signals to deliver and protect the site. That processing is separate from the on-device birthday calculation.

Pages currently request typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser makes that request, Google may receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address and browser details. We do not use that request to receive your selected birthday.

Your choices

  • Use the directories without entering a birthday.
  • Choose a symbols-only share mode when you do not want to include a year.
  • Do not copy a full-profile link if you do not want its included values disclosed.
  • Clear the URL fragment before bookmarking or passing the page to someone else.

Questions and changes

A public contact channel is not yet available. We will publish it on the corrections page when it is active rather than listing an unmonitored address. This notice will be updated if the site's data practices change.
